Fabrication of novel core-shell microspheres consisting of single-walled carbon nanotubes and CaCO3 through biomimetic mineralization

Abstract: Calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) in the presence of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) /fullerodendron supramolecular nanocomposites was crystallized with a CO 2 diffusion method under ambient conditions and in aqueous environments to produce monodisperse spherical SWCNT/CaCO 3 hybrids with a core-shell structure. The crystals nucleate at the carboxyl groups on the surface of the SWCNT/fullerodendron supramolecular nanocomposites grow around a spherical scaffold consisting of the SWCNTs, and finally form spheric… Show more

“…283 Colloidal copper and copper oxide dispersions were studied. 288 Recently, Fujii et al synthesized new types of microcapsules of silica spheres by the fabrication of liquid marbles stabilized with polymer particles. 286 Core-shell type (CdSe)ZnS particles (z 2.3-5.5 nm) were studied by Dabbousi et al, 287 for example.…”

“…Their thermal conductivity (theoretically > 6,000 W/(m K) [4]) and electrical conductivity (10 6 S/cm [5]) are also outstanding. On the basis of the superior natures of CNTs, several hybrid particles of CNTs with some other inorganic materials have been produced [6–9] and used widely in several different areas such as supercapacitors [10, 11], field emission displays [12], chemical sensors and biosensors [13–15], photocatalysts [16, 17], and photoelectric devices [18, 19].…”
