Fabrication of Mn Doped PZT for Ceramic-Polymer Composites

Abstract: Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramics, with general chemical formula Pb(Zr 1−x Ti x )O 3 are used in numerous piezo-and pyroelectric applications. In practice, PZT is rarely used in a chemical pure form. The dielectric, piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties of PZT can be modified by adding dopants to the ABO 3 -type PZT perovskite structure.Ceramics powders of manganese-doped lead zirconate titanate with composition Pb(Zr 0.3 Ti 0.7 ) 0.97 Mn 0.03 O 3 (PMZT) were prepared by the sol-gel method using: lead… Show more

“…1) shown, that at room temperature T r it has a perovskite type structure with a tetragonal phase near the morphtotropic area (a = 4.075Å, c = 4.099Å, δ T = 1.1%) without the presence of foreign phases (pirochlore phase). The PSZTC ceramics has density of ρ eksp = 7.23 g/cm 3 . The PSZTC ceramics microstructure image (Fig.…”

“…A possibility to use a piezoelectric ceramics in the electronic industry, in micromechatronics [1], electroacoustics or to build elements of medical equipment is conditioned mainly by stability of its mechanical and electric parameters [2][3][4][5]. One of the most interesting materials for use in micromechatronics is a multicomponent solid solution PZT-type with perovskite structure [6][7][8][9].…”

“…The common conventional methods of piezoelectric material preparation are the solid-state method [2,3] and wet chemical methods such as the hydrothermal method and the solution gel (Sol-Gel) method [4]. Wet chemical methods are carried out at lower temperatures and hence became more attractive, especially for the nanogenerator harvesters.…”

“…In order to broaden the application possibilities of composite materials obtained based on PZT-type ferroelectric powder and ferrites, it is necessary to learn their physical, chemical and mechanical properties, as well as their actual structure [1,2]. Knowledge regarding the relation between the chemical composition, crystalline structure and electro-physical properties allows for obtaining this type of materials with increasingly better and more stable properties, necessary for functional application in modern technology.…”
