Fabrication of MgAl2Si2O8 : M0.01 (M = Ni2+, Cu2+, Pd2+, Pt2+ and Ru3+): catalytic effects for the reduction of 2- or 4-nitroanilines in water

Abstract: Five new MgAl 2 Si 2 O 8 :M 0.01 (M = Ni 2+ ,Cu 2+ ,Pd 2+ ,Pt 2+ and Ru 3+) materials were developed for the reduction of nitroarenes as catalysts by conventional solid state reaction at 1300 • C. The prepared materials were characterized by thermal analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis. The catalytic activities of the prepared catalysts were tested in the r… Show more

“…Supported Pd(II) complexes on solid inorganic materials are commonly used to reduce harmful nitro-aromatics and dyes, such as Eosin yellow, because of their high conversion rates. [44][45][46] Catalyst efficiency increases when Al 2 O 3 is used because of its easy processability and synergistic effects. 47 It is important to develop a relatively simple and inexpensive catalyst.…”

“…Metal complexes that are heterogenized through impregnation on solid support materials are particularly intriguing because they can be effortlessly separated from the catalytic environment and reused. Supported Pd(II) complexes on solid inorganic materials are commonly used to reduce harmful nitro‐aromatics and dyes, such as Eosin yellow, because of their high conversion rates 44–46 . Catalyst efficiency increases when Al 2 O 3 is used because of its easy processability and synergistic effects 47 .…”

“…[ 14–16 ] In the literature, Pd complexes and Pd nanoparticles supported to solid materials have frequently been used as heterogeneous catalysts with excellent conversion rates in the reduction of organic dyes such as nitrophenols and eosin yellow, which are harmful to the environment. [ 17–22 ] In this perspective, Al 2 O 3 is a good supporting material because it is easily handled and increases the efficiency of catalysts synergistically. [ 23 ]…”
