Fabrication of Hybrid NiO/ACF/TiO2Composites and Their Photocatalytic Activity Under Visible Light

Abstract: Nickel oxide-doped ACF and TiO 2 composites (NiO/ACF/TiO 2) were prepared by a sol-gel method. The composite obtained was characterized by BET surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. A methylene blue (MB) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine their photocatalytic activity. Excellent photocatalytic degradation of the MB solution was observed using the TiO 2 , Ti-ACF and NiO/ACF/TiO 2 composite under visible lig… Show more

“…Unfortunately, because of its large bandgap (3.2) and low efficiency in degrading dye at its surface its practical applicability seems to be limited. To extend the functionality, modification of the catalysts was attempted by doping them with either metal or non‐metal dopant ions [3–8], making a composite with other oxide semiconductors [9–11] and sensitising TiO 2 with low bandgap semiconductors [12].…”

“…In order to overcome the abovementioned defects, metal oxide nanoparticles were doped with bioceramic particles with many applications for medical disinfection, the food industry, and other industries (31)(32)(33). Silicatebased bioactive glasses doped with copper oxide have also been studied due to the importance of copper in osteogenesis (34) and the stimulation of the growth factor FGF-2 in vitro (35).…”
