Fabrication of H2S gas sensors using ZnxCu1-xFe2O4 nanoparticles

Abstract: Spinel ferrite nanoparticles can be easily retrieved and utilized for multiple cycles due to their magnetic properties. In this work, nanoparticles of a ZnxCu1-xFe2O4 composition were synthesized by employing a sol–gel auto-combustion technique. The morphology, composition, and crystal structure were examined using scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The produced nanoparticles are in the range of 30–70 nm and manifest spinel cubic structure. The nanoparticles were tested… Show more

“…7,11 Many kinds of adsorbents, including carbonbased composites, activated carbon, nanoparticles, and clays, are used to remove heavy metals from wastewater. 7,9,10 Copper ferrite nanoparticles (CuFe 2 O 4 NPs) are metal oxides with distinctive physicochemical, optical, and magnetic properties that allow them to be used in various applications, such as catalysis, 12 gas sensors, 13,14 membrane fabrication, 15 and capacitive deionization. 16 However, CuFe 2 O 4 NPs tend to agglomerate due to their magnetic properties, which reduces their surface areas and the exposed adsorption active sites.…”

“…Ferrite, as an inexpensive iron oxide, has both magnetic and electrical properties and the hydrophilic properties of inorganic particles. It is widely used in wastewater treatment and other domains 24–26 . Additionally, ferrite loaded with copper ions can be used as a photocatalyst because of its recyclability, which broadens the application field of sustaining materials 26 .…”

“…Conductometric chemical sensors are electronic devices that detect the presence of selected chemicals and their concentrations at their surroundings through the change in the electrical conductance [9][10][11][12][13]. The chemical sensors are important for domestic safety in addition to environmental assessment because they identify hazardous gas concentrations, and send their values to safety as well as control systems.…”
