Fabrication of FeOOH/BiOCl Nanocomposites with Enhanced Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity

Abstract: BiOCl as a two-dimensional layer ternary oxide semiconductor, has been widely used in energy and environmental area due to its non-toxicity, price and the good photocatalytic performance. However, BiOCl has a wide bandgap and can only absorb ultraviolet light, which limits its solar energy conversion efficiency for practical application. Herein, we report a facile synthesis of FeOOH/BiOCl nanocomposites by hydrothermal method. The results of XPS and FT-IR * J. Gao E-Mail: jkgao@zstu.edu.cn [a] Institute of Fib… Show more

“…The main reason of the protein fluorescence quenching can be collision or binding with other molecules and inner‐filter effect which is associated with the absorption of light at the excitation or emission wavelength by the compounds presented in the solution , . Adding non‐protein compounds at the excitation or emission wavelength of the fluorophore, there is possible that less light would reach the center of the solution or the emitted light that reaches the detector would be decreased, which both can lead to the reduction of the protein fluorescence intensity.…”

“…NiCo 2 O 4 has typical crystal tip acceptance and belongs to the same cubic crystal system as Co 3 O 4 . In the crystal structure, Co 3+ from tetrahedron and Co 2+ from octahedron were replaced by low toxicity Ni 2+ , which can form Co 2+ /Co 3+ and Ni 2+ /Ni 3+ solid electron pairs to provide more active sites for redox reactions in alkaline medium . Besides, this multiplex oxide has more excellent performance than single metal oxides, so the design and synthesis of NiCo 2 O 4 with novel structure and high capacitance performance becomes a research hotspot , , , …”

“…Conventional photocatalysts such as TiO 2 semiconductor has optical responsiveness only in the ultraviolet range, resulting in low solar utilization . Many measures have been researched to broaden the optical response range of semiconductor materials, such as elemental doping, surface modification,, and semiconductor recombination , , , , . Among them, semiconductor recombination is a research hotspot in recent years, which usually refers to the formation of the heterojunction between two or more semiconductors to suppress the photoreaction of photo‐generated carriers .…”
