Fabrication of Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Titanium Dioxide Nanotubes and Silver Nanoparticles for Heat Shock Protein 70 Detection

Abstract: This paper presents the fabrication methodology of an electrochemical biosensor for the detection of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) as a potential tumor marker with high diagnostic sensitivity. The sensor substrate was a composite based on titanium dioxide nanotubes (TNTs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) produced directly on TNTs by electrodeposition, to which anti-HSP70 antibodies were attached by covalent functionalization. This manuscript contains a detailed description of the production, modification, and … Show more

“…Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a small inflammatory cytokine, has been a clinical trial target for MM, lymphoma, and other solid carcinomas. 105 Besides, it has been found that FR 106 and heat shock proteins 70 (HSP70) 107 are also overexpressed in MM. Aiming at these biological molecules, Lou et al 77 constructed a competitive electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of IL-6 based on ERGO-AuPdNPs-Ab 1 and AgNPs-Ab 2 probes.…”

“…Similar to the AuNPs, AgNPs used in electrochemical (bio)sensors elaboration may improve the limit of detection of target molecules due to its high thermal, chemical stability, electrical conductivity, and catalytic activity [ 96 , 97 , 98 , 99 , 100 , 101 , 102 ]. Concerning other biomedical applications, AgNPs also presents a strong antimicrobial activity [ 103 , 104 ].…”

“…In 2021, Nycz and coworkers prepared an electrochemical biosensor based on AgNPs and titanium urea dioxide nanotubes to determine heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) as a potential tumor marker. Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) exhibits outstanding properties such as biocompatibility, large surface area, high stability, and good electrical conductivity [98]. Usage of TiO 2 nanotubes with AgNPs increased the electrical conductivity of the sensor system, thereby improving its analytical performance.…”
