Fabrication of copper nanowires using overpotential electrodeposition and anodic aluminium oxide template

Abstract: Overpotential is widely used in electrodeposition of copper nanowires (Cu NWs). However, the value of >2 is harmful for nanowires formation. In this reported study, pulse technology is used to solve the problem. The authors have investigated the effects of potential and voltage mode on the formation of Cu NWs via a porous anodic aluminium oxide template using the electrochemical deposition method. Cu NWs were synthesised by electrochemical deposition in 0.2 M CuSO 4-based solution under different potential mod… Show more

“…The crystalline or amorphous structure is essentially different and compared from the experimental results and theoretical study. The process parameters employed in the deposition such as electrolyte concentration, deposition voltage and temperature are responsible for the structure and properties of nanowire arrays [20][21][22]. For onedimensional magnetic metal or metal oxide materials, the properties of the nanowires array is related to the character of individual nanowire and the periodicity or the symmetry of nanowires.…”

“…Arrays of uniform nanowires are produced using a porous membrane. Different types of nanowires have been obtained by this method: pure metals, 27 alloys, 28,29 oxides, 30,31 and semiconductors. 32 Core-shell nanowires are also synthesized initially by a superposition of two different types of semiconductors for electronic applications.…”

“…Template synthesis has been proven to be a versatile and simple approach for the preparation of metal nanowires [10,11]. Electro-deposition technique is a strict control of the nanowire length and arrangement of segments with different compositions along the nanowire length [12,13,14]. Anodized porous aluminum oxide (AAO) template-based electro-deposition seems to be the most efficient way.…”
