Fabrication of Bienzymatic Glucose Biosensor Based on Novel Gold Nanoparticles‐Bacteria Cellulose Nanofibers Nanocomposite

Abstract: An exploration of gold nanoparticles-bacterial cellulose nanofibers (Au-BC) nanocomposite as a platform for amperometric determination of glucose is presented. Two enzymes, glucose oxidase (GOx) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were immobilized in Au-BC nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode at the same time. A sensitive and fast amperometric response to glucose was observed in the presence of electron mediator (HQ). Both of GOx and HRP kept their biocatalytic activities very well in Au-BC nanocomposit… Show more

“…Additionally large surface area for immobilization of the analytes, rapid response, high sensitivity, good reproducibility and anti-interference are also required characteristics. As expected, it is a great challenge to develop a single material that include all these important characteristics [63]. Cellulose based sensors are inexpensive, disposable, and environmentally friendly.…”

“…These materials transport liquids via capillary action with no need of external power [88]. BC/Au nanocomposites have been reported to exhibit good sensitivity, low detection limit and fast response toward hydrogen peroxide makingthese materials suitable matrices for enzyme immobilization [61][62][63]. The practical application of these nanocomposites for glucose biosensors in human blood samples has been reported.…”

“…This strategy is not limited to a particular detective material or gases, but can be widely used with different detective materials and for detecting different gases. BC composites with gold nanoparticles (BC‐Au) have been used for enzyme immobilization and glucose biosensor fabrication [56, 81]. A biosensor composed of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)/Au‐BC nanocomposite displayed outstanding results, including a wider linear range, narrow detection limits, and quick response toward hydrogen peroxide, suggesting that Au‐BC nanocomposite could be a suitable matrix for enzyme immobilization [81].…”
