Fabrication of a colorimetric sensor using acetic acid-capped drug-mediated copper oxide nanoparticles for nitrite biosensing in processed food

Abstract: Nitrite (NO2−) and nitrate (NO3−) are frequently used in cured meat products as preservatives, as they give a better taste and work well in color fixation. As a key possible carcinogen, excessive dietary consumption of NO2− in cured meat products would be bad for health. Herein, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) were synthesized using the drug Augmentin as a reducing and capping agent. The desired synthesis of CuO NPs was confirmed by various characterization techniques, including UV–visible spectroscopy, F… Show more

“…Conditions: 4 mg HAp@Fe 2 O 3 , 150 mL TMB (12 mM), 100 mL (24 mM) hydrogen peroxide, and 120 mL ascorbic acid (56 mM). (ii) AA, HAp@Fe 2 O 3 , and TMB solution interaction is demonstrated at different pH levels (3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9) nanoparticles having a structure with an expanded surface area is highly needed for the catalytic activity of our synthesized platform. By introducing iron into the HAp, we can further decrease the particle size, increase the surface area, and make it a better reactive surface for catalytic activities due to the enrichment of electrons.…”

“…On the other hand, the colorimetric method has great potential for ascorbic acid detection owing to its simplicity, rapid operation, and cost-effectiveness. 5 The added advantage associated with this approach is that its results can be visualized by the unaided eye. 6 Hydroxyapatite (HAp) holds a prime position among biomaterials and has been utilized for bone implants.…”
