Fabrication, characterization, and dye adsorption capability of recycled modified polyamide nanofibers

Abstract: U TILIZATION of electrospinning technique accompanied by chemical modification as well as, the production of low-cost adsorbent based on polyamide nanofibers is the aim of our current work. The electrospinning parameters (polymer conc, applied voltage, and collector distance) have been studied. The obtained polyamide nanofiber mats were modified with citric acid at various conditions (concentration, temperature and catalyst concentration). The optimum conditions of this modification were investigated by MB upt… Show more

“…Kinetic studies were carried out by pulling and analyzing samples over a time interval every 5 minutes during the first 60 minutes, and then every 10 minutes until successive concentrations of the remaining dyes reach. Kinetic data for the adsorption of MB into a composite with four initial dye concentrations (10,25,50, and 100 mg/L) were tested with well-known kinetic models, namely pseudo-first order model and pseudo-second regular model. The mechanism of the adsorption process was studied by placing data with models.…”

“…The aliphatic polyamides are produced on a much larger scale than the fully aromatic polyamides and are the most important class of engineering thermoplastics [6]. The polymer fibers, nylon (nylon 6 and nylon 6.6) fibers are widely used in carpet factories [7][8].…”

“…Dyeing wastewater has grabbed considerable public attention because of its carcinogenicity, easy accumulation in living organisms, high toxicity, and resistance to degradation [1][2][3][4]. Due to the complexity of wastewaters, and in particular the presence of the problematic azo-reactive dyes, colour removal is a major concern for the textile industries.…”
