Fabrication and efficiency evaluation of a hybrid NiCrAl pressure cell up to 4GPa

Abstract: A hybrid NiCrAl pressure cell was fabricated to measure magnetic quantities under high pressure above 3 GPa. A pressure of 4.0 GPa was achieved and the pressure cell was found to be reusable even after a pressurizing trial up to 4.0 GPa. Pressure was monitored using (63)Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance of Cu(2)O and ruby fluorescence. The pressure efficiency of a fresh cell was maintained at 96%, and no appreciable deformation was observed at pressures below 3 GPa; on the other hand, the efficiency after pressu… Show more

“…The electrical resistivity was measured using the standard four-probe method. The double layered cylindrical pressure cell [21] and pressure exchange medium Daphne 7373 oil [22] were used for the electrical resistivity measurement up to 3 GPa in temperature range 2 -300 K. The manganin wire was used as the sensor to determine the pressure at the room temperature. The uncertainty of pressure determination of 0.05 GPa originates in the electrical resistivity measurement of the manganin wire.…”

“…For a single cylinder of BeCu cell, the maximum pressure without deformations is 1.5 GPa. Development of a double cylinder of NiCrAl increased the maximum pressure to 4 GPa [38], though ∼3 GPa is applied in practice. If Daphne 7373 is used above 2.2 GPa, the pressure is not hydrostatic.…”
