Fabrication and Characterization of Fullerene Functionalized Poly(vinyl formamide-co-vinyl amine)/Inorganic Oxidic Hybrid Particles

Abstract: The postfunctionalization of polyelectrolyte (PE) poly(vinyl formamide-co-vinylamine) (PVFA-co-PVAm) layers adsorbed on silica or titanium dioxide particles with fullerene (C60) has been investigated. The functionalization process requires two steps, the adsorption of the (PVFA-co-PVAm) from an aqueous solution onto the inorganic particles (silica or titanium dioxide) and the reaction of the PE-modified particles with C60 in toluene. By means of this procedure the PVFA-co-PVAm layer on the particle surface is … Show more

“…176 Films of poly(vinyl formamide-co-vinylamine) adsorbed on silica or titanium dioxide particles react with [60]fullerene producing novel hybrid materials with controllable versatile surface properties. 177 A hydrophilic polymeric fullerene-containing material has been prepared by reacting Sephadex® G-200 with [60]fullerene and found to be a good candidate for use as a singlet-oxygen sensitiser. 178 Thin films of [60]fullerene doped poly(methyl methacrylate) exhibit intense electroluminescence ranging from the visible to the near infrared.…”

“…A simultaneous interaction of perchlorate anions with the ─ + 3 NH group of PVAm and the gold surface may be considered. Such a surface-adsorbate interaction has been reported for poly(vinyl formamide-co-vinylamine) and other molecules (50,60,61). A schematic model of the proposed interphase structure based on the discussed observations is depicted in Fig.…”

“…The adsorption of water-soluble polymer poly(vinylformamide) (PVFA) and its derivated statistical copolymers poly(vinylformamide- co -vinylamine)s (PVFA- co -PVAm) on metallic copper has been studied in this work. PVFA- co -PVAm and particularly fully hydrolyzed PVFA polymer PVAm are promising primer coatings for surface modification to achieve metal-containing hybrid materials because even after the adsorption process the polymer chains exhibit a considerable number of accessible primary amino groups that can be used for functionalization reactions with electrophilic components. For technical applications, it is also necessary to protect the copper surface against corrosion. ,, Therefore, it is of scientific and technical interest to investigate whether those polymer layers meet these requirements.…”
