Fabii, family of

Abstract: A Roman patrician, senatorial Gens , powerful from the Early Republic to the Early Empire, the Fabii could boast of many consuls, dictators, censors, and triumphatores . One of the first voting tribes, the tribus Fabia , bore their name. Rome's first native historian was a Fabius, who may be responsible for our knowledge of some of the family's arcana and early history.
