Eye Gaze Techniques for Human Computer Interaction: A Research Survey

Abstract: Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is an emerging technology. Eye gaze technique is one of the very significant techniques of HCI and can be used as hands free pointing tool enabling hands-free operation of the display for the user. The important advantage in using eye gaze systems is that the user can communicate from a distance, and there is no requirement of physical contact with the computer. Investigation of eye gaze helps to understand various aspects of the user like attention, intention, desire and area … Show more

“…Scott MacKenzie and Behrooz Ashtiani also provide a text entry system by eye blinking which used a scanning ambiguous keyboard [8]. It will we more fruitful if one takes a look at the paper created by Anjana Sharma to know deeply about various eye gaze techniques, algorithms, and models [9]. Michael Chau and Margrit Betke have presented a system that detects the user"s eye blinks and analyzes the pattern and duration of the eye blink [10].…”

“…Eye gaze is often used for the purpose of monitoring and analysing a person's eyemovements and Point of Regard (POR). However, it can also be used 'interactively' as a means of computer cursor control and selection; in essence, it can replace, or provide a 'hands-free' version of the computer mouse (Sharma and Abrol, 2013), (Duchowski, 2002). This approach affords the user the ability to interact with software-based user interfaces using only their eyes.…”
