Eye development

Abstract: The eye has been one of the most intensively studied organs in Drosophila. The wealth of knowledge about its development, as well as the reagents that have been developed, and the fact that the eye is dispensable for survival, also make the eye suitable for genetic interaction studies and genetic screens. This chapter provides a brief overview of the methods developed to image and probe eye development at multiple developmental stages, including live imaging, immunostaining of fixed tissues, in situ hybridizat… Show more

“…Antibody staining was performed as previously described (Baker et al, 2014). The following primary antibodies were used: mouse anti-βGal (1:100, DSHB 40-1a), rabbit anti-βGal (Cappell), rat anti-ElaV(1:50, DSHB 7E8A10), mouse anti-Da (1:200)(Cronmiller and Cummings, 1993), rabbit anti-Emc (1:8000, a gift from Y. N. Jan), rabbit anti-Ato (1:50000)(Jarman et al, 1994), rat anti-GFP(1:1000, Nacalai Tesque GF090R), mouse anti-Dl (mAb202).…”
