Extubação Paliativa: do Conceito ao Manejo – Uma Revisão Integrativa

Abstract

Os cuidados paliativos configuram a abordagem e assistência intermediada por uma equipe multidisciplinar, objetivando a melhoria da qualidade de vida do paciente e seus familiares, diante de uma doença ameaçadora à continuidade da vida, por meio da prevenção e alívio do sofrimento, além da identificação precoce, avaliação correta e tratamento de dor e demais sintomas físicos, biopsicossociais e espirituais vivenciado por indivíduos que lidam com comorbidades limitantes. Neste contexto, a extubação paliativa, ou seja, a retirada da ventilação mecânica invasiva, ainda é uma prática pouco realizada nos serviços brasileiros. O objetivo do presente estudo é trazer uma revisão integrativa acerca do conceito, aspectos bioéticos e legais, indicações, da comunicação com o paciente e familiares, bem como o seu manejo na prática clínica.

Therefore, it must be ensured that the healthcare team approaches the family in an appropriate manner, allowing the grieving process to begin early, with end-of-life decisions being shared with the patient (when possible) and family members, in order to favor better assimilation of the inevitability of death 21 .…”
