“…A recent systematic review identified concordance rates higher than 64% for the smear and 77% for the cell‐block technique regarding diagnostic capability for the evaluation of intraosseous jaw lesions, including malignant lesions 16 . Despite several published reports on the cytopathological diagnosis of PCN, either in isolated manifestations (extramedullary or solitary bone plasmacytoma) or as a consequence of PCM, 17–98 there is a lack of compiled information investigating the agreement of cytopathological and histopathological findings, along with others ancillary cytological methods such as smears and cell blocks. In fact, FNAC represents a faster, cheaper and more diversified noninvasive diagnostic approach.…”

“…17 Ustün et al reported a case of extramedullary plasmacytoma of the parotid gland with extensive amyloid deposition. 18 Majority of these cases had systemic involvement in the form of MMs and isolated plasmacytoma with amyloid deposits have been rarely reported. We have encountered nine cases of localized amyloidosis of the larynx in our experience, of which, only one case has coexisting PCN on histopathology.…”

“…As mentioned previously, histopathological analysis in isolation is insufficient to confirm a diagnosis of primary extramedullary plasmacytoma, since it is necessary to exclude the possibility of multiple myeloma through skeletal and marrow examinations, immunoelectrophoresis, quantitative immunoglobulin testing, and confirmation of the absence of urinary Bence Jones proteins ( 17 ). Cyclin D1 expression in EOP, as observed in the current patient, has been associated with an unfavourable prognosis in previous studies ( 19 ); however, this did not seem to be true of the present case.…”
