“…The literature data concerning extraction of rare earth elements with HQ and HQ derivatives are scarce and contradictory [23][24][25][26][27]. Ln(III) form with HQ several complexes such as [LnQ] 2+ , [LnQ 2 ] + , and [LnQ 3 ] and the complexation of Ln(III) by HQ or HQ derivatives is dominated by proton competition that limits the metal ion binding.…”

“…The selectivity of the extraction could be explained by the differences between the stability constants of the lanthanides(III) with 8-hydroxyquinoline [23][24][25][26][27]. It is important to note that CPE were carried out at pH 5.5.…”

“…It has been reported that rare-earth ions are extracted with 3 molecules of 8-quinolinol (HR) in a conventional solvent extraction system as follows [17,19]:…”

“…Recently, 8-quinolinol derivatives have been applied to the extraction of rare-earth ions, and some interesting results have been reported in a conventional organic solvent system [15][16][17].…”

“…Previously, we described the extraction of Y(III) and Pr(III) through Yb(III) with Hq [12] and Y(III), La(III), and Pr(III) through Lu(III) with 5,7-dichloro-8-hydroxyquinoline (Hdcq). [13][14][15][16] Chloroform as the organic diluent and sodium perchlorate as the aqueous ionic medium were chosen because the extraction strength of Hq and Hdcq in chloroform is significant, [4,10] and Ln(III) have very little tendency to form complexes with ClO 4 À ions. [17] It was stated that all the investigated Ln(III) were extracted with Hq as well as with Hdcq (except Ho and Er) as simple 1 : 3 chelates.…”
