Extraction of Palladium(II) with a Magnetic Sorbent Based on Polyvinyl Alcohol Gel, Metallic Iron, and an Environmentally Friendly Polydentate Phosphazene-Containing Extractant

Abstract: In this work, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly method for extracting palladium from hydrochloric acid media was developed. The method uses a magnetic sorbent carrying an organophosphorus extractant, which is not washed from the sorbent into the aqueous phase. The extractant was characterized by 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy and MALDI TOF mass spectrometry, and the palladium complex based on it was characterized by IR spectroscopy. According to an in vitro microbiological study, the extractan… Show more

“…Yudaev et al [ 92 ] developed a highly efficient and environmentally friendly method for extracting palladium from hydrochloric acid media. The extractant was synthesized through the Pudovik reaction involving hexakis-[4-{(N-allylimino)methyl}-phenoxy]-cyclotriphosphazene (APP) and diethyl phosphite in dioxane, as illustrated in Scheme 11 .…”

“…Furthermore, this method facilitates the potential reuse of dyes [7]. The development of new adsorbents has always been a prominent issue in the field of adsorption separation [8][9][10]. Currently, a large proportion of the literature has reported the adsorption removal of MO from aqueous solutions [11][12][13].…”

“…Spinel ferrites nanomaterials with the general chemical formula of MFe 2 O 4 , where M = Mn, Co, Ni, Zn or other transition metals, can display superparamagnetic properties below a certain nanoparticle size range. Due to this magnetic behaviour and their phase structure stability, such functional nanoparticles have been exploited for several potential biomedical applications, such as contrast agents for magnetic resonant imaging, drug delivery systems and magnetic hyperthermia agents, but also as a promising material for the solid-phase extraction of noble metals from leaching solutions of waste electrical and electronic equipment [10]. Additionally, the diversity of the synthesis techniques and parameters makes ferrites popular materials [11,12].…”
