Extraction of Niobium (V) by Tri-n-butyl Phosphate from Strongly Acid Solutions in the Presence of Masking Agents

Abstract

Extraction of microamounts of niobium (V) by tri-n-butyl phosphate from hydrochloric and nitric acid media in the presence of various multidentate ligands which function as masking agents was studied with respect to the amounts of the ligand and to the hydrogen ion concentration. Separation of microamounts of niobium from hexavalent uranium has also been investigated. It has been found that the most convenient chelating agents are oxalic acid, citric acid, EDTA, NTA, Tiron, pyrogallol-sulfonic acid and chromotropic salt.Zusammenfassung Die Abtrennung von Mikrogrammengen Niob (V) durch Extraktion mit Tri-n-butylphosphat aus salzsaurem und salpetersaurem Milieu bei Anwesenheit von einigen chelatbildenden Reagenzien, die einen Maskierefiekt aufweisen, wurde untersucht. Die Abhängigkeit von der Säurekonzentration und von der Menge der chelatbildenden Reagenzien wurde geprüft. Außerdem wurde die Abtrennung von Mikrogrammengen des Niobs (V) vom Uran (VI) untersucht. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß als Komplexbildner Oxalsäure, Zitronensäure, Äthylendiamintetraessigsäure (ÄDTA), Nitrilotriessigsäure (NTA), Tiron, Pyrogallol-4-sulfonsäure und Chromotropsäure sich am besten eignet.Brought to you by |
