Extraction of Frictional Vibration Features with Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation Analysis and Friction State Recognition

Abstract: For the purpose of extracting the frictional vibration characteristics of the friction pair during friction and wear in different friction states, the friction and wear tests of friction pair in different friction states were conducted on a testing machine. Higher-dimensional fractal and multifractal characteristics hidden in time series can be examined by multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MFDFA) method. The frictional vibration time-domain signals, the friction coefficient signals and the frictiona… Show more

“…13 Li extracted the friction-induced vibration features with multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis and recognized friction state with principal component analysis. 14 In this paper, experiments on full-film lubrication and mixed lubrication states were designed with Stribeck curve to explore the role of rough peak contact on friction-induced vibration. For avoiding the problem of signal distortion caused by improper noise reduction, the vibration signals were measured, respectively, with the system noise, the full-film lubrication, and the mixed lubrication state.…”

“…Zhu studied the change of fractal dimension of friction signal during running-in wear (Zhu et al , 2007). Li carried out multifractal de-trend fluctuation analysis of friction vibration signals during running-in wear (Li et al , 2020; Li et al , 2017). By recursive quantitative analysis, Oberst revealed the different mechanisms of laminar flow and stochastic behavior, periodic and chaotic formation of periodic transition (Oberst and Lai, 2011).…”
