“…In June 2021, ACEM's inaugural Rural Health Action Plan (RuHAP) 11 formalised the college's commitment to rural health and the rights of all communities to timely, safe and quality emergency care. What ‘quality emergency care’ represents is itself nuanced and, in this edition, Hilbig 24 discusses the implications of delivering gold‐standard emergency care as derived from metropolitan‐based algorithms. RuHAP positions ACEM as a pivotal body to address rural health inequity in remote Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand through four strategic priorities: - Equitable workforce distribution;
- Enhanced rural research capacity;
- Improved service provision and planning; and
- Strengthened collaborations, including with metropolitan networks.
