Extended erythrocyte and reticulocyte parameters in the diagnosis of iron deficiency in hemodialysis patients

Abstract: Objective: Iron deficiency (ID) is a frequent complication in end stage renal insufficiency. These patients have to be diagnosed and treated to reduce the prevalence of anemia. Functional iron deficiency (FID) is a situation that can disrupt biochemical iron tests and mask an eventual association with ID.
