“…Genetically modified rice plants were reported to accumulate more Cd in their root than shoot under the overexpression of the rice V-PPase (Cao et al, 2020). The coexpression of the wheat gene for the NHX antiporter and V-PPase proton pump diminishes the toxicity of copper in transgenic tobacco (Gouiaa and Khoudi, 2019). An artificially synthesized PC gene 'PPH6HIS' was used to make the transgenic lines of the tobacco.…”

“…By controlling the synthesis of lignin, which serves as an apoplast barrier to prevent arsenate from entering root cells and reduces its accumulation in transgenic plant, OsPRX38 overexpression in transgenic rice greatly enhanced arsenic tolerance. In transgenic tobacco, the co-expression of the wheat-gene encoding the vacuolar proton pumps (V-PPase proton pump) and sodium/proton antiporter (NHX antiporter) reduces copper toxicity (Gouiaa & Khoudi, 2019) [17] . To create the transgenic tobacco lines, the phytochekatin gene "PPH6HIS" was synthetically created.…”

“…Gouiaa et al (2012) demonstrated that co‐overexpression in tobacco of the V‐PPase TaVP1 and the vacuolar sodium antiporter TaNHXS1 resulted in enhanced tonoplast V‐PPase, V‐ATPase, and Na + /H + transport activities. The single TaVP1 transgenic tobacco lines exhibited better tolerance and accumulated higher quantities of Cu than their WT counterparts (Gouiaa & Khoudi 2019). Interestingly, the double transgenic tobacco plants, co‐expressing V‐PPase and sodium antiporter, outperformed the single transgenic TaVP1 plants and accumulated significantly more Cu in their areal parts.…”
