Expression of miR-148b-3p is correlated with overexpression of biomarkers in prostate cancer

Abstract: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the leading causes of death among men. Genes such as PCA3, PSA, and Fra-1 are suggested to serve as potential tools for the detection of PCa, as they are deregulated during this pathology. A similar event occurs with small non-coding RNAs, called miRNAs, specifically miR-195-5p, miR-133a-3p, and miR-148b-3p, which were analyzed in a Chinese population and suggested to be possible candidates for PCa diagnosis. We evaluated the expression levels of three miRNAs and three genes in … Show more

“…It was described in a meta-analysis report that dysregulation of miRNA-181d family membrane can be used as prognostic marker in different cancers [ 34 ]. Also, dysregulation of miRNA-148b-3p expression was reported in numerous cancers including breast [ 35 ], thyroid [ 36 ], prostate [ 37 ], colorectal [ 38 ] and gastric cancer [ 39 ]. Until now, dysregulated expression of TPTEP1 has been reported mainly in patients with human lung [ 40 ] and liver cancer [ 41 ].…”

“…In our present work, bioinformatics analysis was applied and predicted miR148b-3p is a critical player in HOXA11-AS-IGFBP5 regulation platform in keloid. Deregulation of miR-148b-3p has been found in cancers, arthritis, ischemic stroke, heart failure [16][17][18][19][20]. However, the biofunction of miR148b-3p has not been previously reported.…”

“…As displayed in the miRNA-target gene interaction maps, these differentially expressed MicroRNAs (DEmiRNAs) are also drivers of imaging biomarkers, further endorsing the value of mpMRI as a triage test. Within this group of selected DEMs, evidence in literature already exists on the possible role of let-7b-5p as biomarker specific of aggressive cancers [37,38], miR-195-5p [39,40], miR-148b-3p [38,41], miR-518c-3p [42,43] as biomarkers specific of csPCa.…”
