Expression of CD40 and CD40L in Gastric Cancer Tissue and Its Clinical Significance

Abstract: To study expression of CD40 and CD40L in gastric cancer tissue we assessed gastric cancer patients admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and control subjects. Gastric cancer and normal (from around tumours) tissue samples were obtained from patients. Venous blood samples (gastric cancer and ulcer groups) were drawn on the morning of the day before surgery for the measurement of peripheral sCD40L. The expression of CD40 in gastric carcinoma specime… Show more

“…It has been reported that CD40-CD40L axis was involved in a series of cell biological activities, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune disorders, and even Alzheimer's disease (9)(10)(11). CD40 was found to be expressed at an up-regulated level in many epithelial cancers (12)(13)(14)(15). Expression of CD40 and CD40L in gastric cancer tissue was positively correlated with lymphatic metastasis and tumor TNM stage (13).…”

“…Its prognosis is poorer and 5-year survival rate is only 15%~20% (Li et al, 2015). The study demonstrated that adjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer after surgery, especially for advanced gastric cancer, could effectively remove micrometastases and ameliorate the patients' prognosis (Basaran et al, 2015).…”
