Expression of adhesion molecules, platelet-activating factor, and chemokines by Kaposi's sarcoma cells.

Abstract: The present study was designed to investigate whether cells cultured from Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), a vascular tumor with a prominent leukocyte infiltration, express molecules important for the recruitment and activation of leukocytes. KS cells expressed intercellular adhesion molecule-1, which was augmented by exposure to IL-1 beta or TNF-alpha.
