Abstract:Campylobacter jejuni is one of the major foodborne pathogens causing human infection. Peptide deformylase, a metallohydrolase, catalyzes the deformylation of N-formylated methionine in newly synthesized polypeptides in prokaryotes and some eukaryotic organelles.
