“…Three ethylene receptors (two ETRs and one ERS) were also reported in the “Kent” variety of which two ETR homologs remained unchanged whereas one ERS showed down-regulation5. In a recent report, different versions of the mango ethylene receptor MiERS1 from Hôi’ cultivar were identified by Winterhagen et al 24. They suggested that in addition to MiERS1 , two short versions of this receptor ( MiERS1m , MiERS1s ) are also present in mango.…”

“…Subfamily 1 contains ETR1 and ERS1 , and subfamily 2 contains ETR2 , ERS2 , and EIN4 . ETR1 , ETR2 , and ERS2 are important fruit ethylene receptor genes ( Winterhagen et al, 2016 ). It has been suggested that 1-MCP treatment can effectively prevent ethylene-induced maturation and senescence by regulating ethylene biosynthesis and the expression of ethylene receptor genes ( MiETR1 and MiERS1 ) ( Li et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Ethylene is perceived through its binding to its receptors, which act as negative regulators [38][39][40]. As mentioned above, the expression profiles of MiERS1 and MiETR1 ethylene receptors were previously characterized during mango fruitlet drop [31][32][33]. Here, we expanded these studies to examine the effect of ethephon treatment on the expression profiles of additional ethylene signaling-related genes in fruitlet AZs.…”

“…Further examination of the expression patterns of two mango ethylene receptor genes, MiETR1 and MiERS1, showed that mango fruitlet shedding is associated with strong upregulation of MiERS1 in fruitlet AZs [31], and with an increase in the MiERS1/MiETR1 ratio in the AZs of "about to abscise" fruitlets [32]. These studies were later extended to monitor levels of expression of novel MiERS1 and MiETR1 isoforms present in the 'Hoi' poly-embryonic mango cultivar [33]. With respect to IAA function, it was shown that mango fruitlet drop is associated with a reduction in the polar IAA transport capacity through the fruitlet pedicel, and with a reduction in sucrose accumulation in the fruitlet pericarp tissue [32].…”
