Evaluation of Seasonal Variability of Toxic and Essential Elements in Urine Analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

“…Several studies have provided range values for toxic and essential elements in urine (Birgisdottir et al 2013;Fréry et al 2011;Hao et al 2015;Heitland and Koster 2006;Hoet et al 2013;Morton et al 2014;NHANES 2013). By comparing range values obtained in this study with those previously reported (Birgisdottir et al 2013;Fréry et al 2011;Hao et al 2015;Heitland and Koster 2006;Hoet et al 2013;Morton et al 2014;NHANES 2013), we found that many elements (e.g., Cu, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Co and Tl) are highly comparable with the literature (Table 3). Nevertheless, for some contaminant such as Cd and As we can notice significant differences with previously reported values (Table 3).…”

Study on polychlorobiphenyl serum levels in French consumers of freshwater fish

“…The PCB congener 153 was screened for in most studies, therefore this was the indicator used to compare serum PCB levels with those of other studies (median values). Serum PCB-153 levels (median) in this study population were 101.5 ng/g lipid and were within the range of the current general French population (Frery et al, 2013) (130 ng/g lipid), but a little lower in our study except for the PCB-BP + freshwater fish consumers. These differences can be attributed to several factors; in particular, the serum PCB samples of the general population were collected several years before our study.…”
