“…I acknowledged my role and possible influences on both the participants and interpretation of the data, and I applied the same kinds of critical analysis to my role as researcher as I applied to participants (Alvesson & Skoldberg, 2002;Ellis & Bochner, 2000;Foley, 1998;Haskell, Finds & Ippolito, 2002;Ruby, 1980). resolved to maintain, 'virtuous subjectivity... as the salt of creativity' (Peshkin, 1988, p. 268).…”

Reflexive visual anthropology belongs to the tradition of feminist studies that defines intersubjectivity as an approach of "reciprocal sharing of knowledge and experience between researcher and the researched" and an understanding that the researcher unavoidably takes part in the production of knowledge (Shields and Dervin, 1993).…”

“…By paying attention to negative cases, the sophistication and credibility of this research report was increased to further 'tame the beast'. According to Ruby (1980) and Hammersley (1990), another method of incorporating negative case analysis is to include findings from different studies into the overarching analysis.…”
