Abstract:Platooning is an effective way to reduce air resistance and fuel consumption in vehicular transportation. However, stochastically generated disturbances can significantly impact the string stability of platoons. This article proposes a novel control law, based on sliding mode control and leader‐predecessor communications, designed to improve the exponential mean‐square string stability of platoons with Ito‐type stochastic disturbances that consider friction force. Specifically, our approach employs a third‐ord… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
