Exploring the vortex phase diagram of Bogoliubov-de Gennes disordered superconductors

Abstract: The interplay of disorder and magnetic vortices is a recurrent topic of research in the theory of superconductivity. In most of previous approaches, disorder enters in a phenomenological way, namely, it is not the random potential felt by the electrons. Here we address this problem in a fully microscopic model: a two-dimensional disordered superconductor at zero temperature described by the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) formalism for lattices of sizes up to 100 × 100 where the magnetic field is introduced by the P… Show more

“…In this work, we introduce a scheme of double self-consistency and conduct initial self-consistent calculations on typical inhomogeneous superconducting systems featuring κ values near 1, with a specific focus on s-wave superconductivity to illustrate the method's efficiency. It is worth noting that our approach holds promise for addressing more general scenarios, including d-wave superconductivity in magnetic fields and multi-orbital superconductivity with spin-orbit coupling, as well as those with disorder [15,16].…”
