“…The specimens were obtained from the French captive stock within intra‐governmental agreement for a limited number of sturgeon for experimental releases. The results obtained in 2012 have been published in Brevé et al (), the results obtained in 2015 and a comparison between both field studies are given in the present paper.…”

“…The telemetry system has detection stations installed at each main weir in the Rhine and Meuse Rivers in the Netherlands (Figure a and b). Surgery took place at the Irstea French experimentation station and the method of tagging and recuperation, transportation to the Netherlands and acclimatisation of the sturgeon to Rhine water followed the procedure described in Brevé et al (). The transponders are contained within a shell of surgical glass (26.5 g in air; Ø: 15 mm; length: 70 mm; battery life of approximately 4 years).…”

“…Among restoration efforts which addressed the major stressors to aquatic diversity (Dudgeon et al., 2006), few projects targeted invasive species and overexploitation. Notable examples of restoration to target these stressors included investigating the relative effects of flow restoration and removal of aquatic or riparian invasive species on sensitive native fishes (Keller et al., 2014; Marks et al., 2011), and fish reintroductions after threats of overexploitation and/or habitat degradation had been removed (Argent et al., 2016; Brevé et al., 2014). These stressors are likely to have been under‐represented in our review because they categorically overlapped with specific conservation and management programmers under the umbrella of biological threat programmes or fisheries enhancement programmes, and may not have included the key term ”restoration” as part of the publication.…”
