Exploring the Knowledge Domain of Risk Management in Prefabricated Construction

Abstract: Risks hinder the role of prefabricated construction (PC) in promoting construction automation. Although existing research has focused on risk management (RM) in PC, the lack of a global perspective has affected the effectiveness of RM. Accordingly, this paper adopts a scientometric analysis to review the knowledge domain of RM in PC. A total of 144 articles were selected from the Scopus database for journal citation analysis, document co-citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. The results show t… Show more

“…In recent years, researchers have used quantitative instruments such as meta-analysis and bibliometric analysis to enhance previous qualitative reviews of PCRs studies. For example, Li et al [59] conducted a bibliometric method to publish PCRs research from a risk management perspective. Wuni et al [60] analyzed 54 studies in PCRs research domain and determined PC risks across six dimensions.…”

“…Due to the complexity of project environments and the intensification of the uncertainty in changes, whether the various risks faced by the project can be well controlled is the key to the success of a project [29]. Therefore, risk management has long been the focus of research [30].…”

“…In recent years, there have been several comprehensive reviews of the research progress in the field of prefabricated building [5][6][7][8][9]. For example, Masood et al [5] analyzed the 2 of 21 themes and key terms in supply chain management in prefabricated housing construction and identified key concepts such as lean, modular, customization, integration, and collaboration.…”

“…For example, Masood et al [5] analyzed the 2 of 21 themes and key terms in supply chain management in prefabricated housing construction and identified key concepts such as lean, modular, customization, integration, and collaboration. Li et al [6] provided a thorough understanding of the knowledge domain in the domain of risk management concerning prefabricated construction. The study summarized the current research content on five major knowledge themes including supply chain and industry, decision-making and optimization, safety and health, environment and overheating, investment and cost, and proposed demand and feasible risk management strategies for future research.…”
