Nowadays, people live amidst the smart home domain, business opportunities in the industrial smart city and health care, though, along with concerns about security. Security is central for IoT systems to protect sensitive data and infrastructure, whilst security issues become increasingly expensive, in particular in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) domains. Nonetheless, there are some key challenges for dealing with those security issues in IoT domains: Applications operate in distributed environments such as Blockchain, varied smart objects are used, and sensors are limited in what comes to machine resources. In this way, traditional security does not fit in IoT systems. In this vein, the issue of cyber security has become paramount to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in mitigating cyber security risk for organizations and end users. New cyber security technologies / applications present improvements for IoT security management. Nevertheless, there is a gap on the effectiveness of IoT cyber risk solutions. This review article discusses the, trends around opportunities and threats in cyber security for IIoT.

In transitioning from a linear economy model to a circular business, digital technologies can help manage the flow of restorative and regenerative resources. In this context, the present study aims to evaluate the contribution of digital technologies, such as the internet of things (IoT), Big Data and Blockchain in the execution of circular economy (CE) practices and what mechanisms companies are adopting to integrate digital technologies into the circular context. The research method consists of an exploratory case study with a qualitative approach. Two prominent companies took part in the study. The results indicate benefits highlighted by companies, contemplate that Big Data analysis has improved performance in data processing and management, IoT has added monitoring and traceability to companies' packaging, thus bringing efficiency to recycling, recovery, reuse and disposal, and the Blockchain provides traceability, security and reliability for the implemented practice. This study contributes by exploring the factors that will help explain the mechanism for implementing CE practices. The present study integrates two dimensions (i.e., CE and digital technology). In doing so, it expands previous studies on CE practices by adopting digital technologies. As a practical contribution, the companies in the study understood that integration with startups benefits the development of projects. In addition to innovative proposals, they present digital technologies as management solutions for implementing CE practices.

A framework of digital technologies for the circular economy: Digital functions and mechanisms

Digital technology is regarded as providing a promising means of moving production and consumption towards the circular economy. However, it is still unclear which functions of digital technologies are most useful to improving circularity, and how these functions could be used to enhance different circular economy strategies. This paper aims to address this knowledge gap by conducting a systematic literature review. After examining 174 papers, creating 782 original codes and 259 secondround codes, the study identifies 13 critical functions of digital technologies which are most relevant to circular economy strategies. The paper then proposes a framework which reveals seven mechanisms of how these digital functions can enhance different circular economy strategies. The framework also reveals which combinations of the digital functions and circular economy strategies have already been studied extensively as well as where there may be gaps. This indicates which digital functions are more mature in terms of possible implementation for circular economy as well as what missing links there are in the empirical and theoretical research. The study advances the synergies between digital technologies and the circular economy paradigm through the lens of digital functions. The proposed framework and mechanisms build a theoretical foundation for future research, and we highlight five research areas for further studies. This study also provides a structured way for managers to explore the appropriate digital functions for their CE strategies, so as to identify required digital technologies and new value creation through digital functions.
