Exploring the Chemistry of Natural Products and Biological Properties of Mimosa Linnaeus Genus (FABACEAE-MIMOSOIDADE)

Abstract: The Mimosa Linnaeus genus (Fabaceae), comprises about 540 species distributed mainly in the Neotropical region, predominantly in the South America and Mexico. Mimosa L. species are ubiquitous in the several biomes due to their great environmental adaptation abilities. The present review describes the compilation of the chemical aspects and the biological activities from the genus Mimosa L.. The chemical survey showed the biodiversity of metabolites, represented by 19 species and 199 substances, divided into al… Show more

“…When analysing the nanoparticles obtained via the process of green synthesis, there is a coincidence with the crude extract, with the compound being quite similar in regards to both retention time (19.477 min, Figure 6C) and UV-Vis spectrum ( Figure 6D; bands 222, 270 and 347 nm). Although this is the first study of the extract of M. albida, several sources describe the presence of flavones and flavonols in Mimosa species, for instance: Apigenin [59], luteolin [60], quercetin and their glycosides [61], thus allowing us to ratify the interpretation of the information obtained by chromatography. It is important to note that quercetin spectrum has bands at different wavelengths than those observed for M. albida extract, with the presence of a flavone being more likely.…”

“…A realização do estudo de predição in silico de flavonoides ocorrentes em Mimosa pudica, oriundas do estudo químico realizado por Monção et al (2019), mostrou que M. pudica apresenta um elevado potencial químico a ser explorado em estudo in vitro e in vivo para descoberta de moléculas com potenciais atividades biológicas.…”
