Exploring the antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, and antitumor potentials of marine Streptomyces tunisiensis W4MT573222 pigment isolated from Abu-Qir sediments, Egypt

Abstract: Due to the therapeutic importance of microbial pigments, these pigments are receiving the attention of researchers. In this present study 60 isolates were isolated from sediments of Abu-Qir coast of the Mediterranean sea, Alexandria, Egypt, out of which 12 were considered as pigmented actinomycetes. Streptomyces sp. W4 was characterized by small round green pigmented colonies when grown on starch-casein agar medium. The green pigment was extracted using a mixture of acetone-methanol (7:3 v/v). The antimicrobia… Show more

“…The red color (Figures 7 and 8) indicates the NMR signals and green color (Figure 7) represents integration value of protons. The assignment of carbons in the molecular structure was confirmed using 13 C NMR, which confirmed the presence of 19 carbon signals (Figure 8). The chemical shifts of carbons at δC 129.60 (C-8), 95.02 (C-9), and 164.28 (C-10) suggested pyrazole moiety.…”

“…Therefore, based on the obtained data from UV, FTIR, HR-ESI-MS, and NMR analyses, the structure of the compound was determined to be pyraclostrobin with the chemical formula C19H18ClN3O4 (Figure 9). The assignment of carbons in the molecular structure was confirmed using 13…”

“…Soil actinomycetes are able to produce a wide variety of products, including enzymes, bioactive secondary metabolites, melanin, and antibiotics [ 1 ] that cannot be produced by other types of bacteria because of their unique environment. Actinobacteria are highly desirable due to their potent production capacity of bioactive compounds [ 60 ].…”

“…There is a wide variety of actinomycetes, all of which are gram-positive and filamentous bacteria. They are found in natural and artificial environments and play an important role in the degradation of organic matter in soil [ 1 ]. These saprophytic, free-living bacteria are considered a major source in the development of antibiotics [ 2 , 3 ].…”
