This paper analyzes the actual functions of the labor education and occupational therapy phase through an in-depth study of labor education and occupational therapy for college students and explores the strategies of organic integration of labor education and occupational therapy for college students. This paper carries out a holistic theoretical construction of labor education in schools and systematically analyzes the components of labor education objectives in colleges and universities, labor education contents in schools, labor education implementation in schools, and labor education evaluation in schools. The main goal of labor education in colleges and universities is to guide students in establishing a scientific concept of labor and constructing a labor education resource system. It focuses on strengthening the construction and improvement of the labor education theoretical system, promoting the construction of labor education disciplines and professional courses, and attaching importance to the training of labor education teachers in the new era to contribute to the perfection of labor education. The system of labor education practice should be innovated. Of course, the labor practice activities based on institutionalization should be implemented. The cycle of labor activities based on the principle of continuity should be strengthened, and the effectiveness of labor education should be improved totally from explicit and implicit instructions. The core of occupational therapy is to help college students adapt to social work, give full play to their self-worth, obtain economic resources, and improve self-confidence. The organic integration of labor education and occupational therapy shows that it can help students ease their social adaptability and adapt to social functions, improve the reemployment rate, and improve students’ overall health. Therefore, the practical research on labor education and occupational therapy should be strengthened.

Background. Spatial ability (SA) is a robust predictor of academic and occupational achievement. The present study investigated the psychometric properties of 10 tests for measuring of SA in a sample of talented schoolchildren. Objective. Our purpose was to identify the most suitable measurements for SA for the purpose of talent identification, educational assessment, and support. Design. Our sample consisted of 1479 schoolchildren who had demonstrated high achievement in Science, Arts, or Sports. Several criteria were applied to evaluate the measurements, including an absence of floor and ceiling effects, low redundancy, high reliability, and external validity. Results. Based on these criteria, we included the following four tests in an Online Short Spatial Ability Battery “OSSAB”: Pattern Assembly; Mechanical Reasoning; Paper Folding; and Shape Rotation. Further analysis found differences in spatial ability across the three groups of gifted adolescents. The Science track showed the highest results in all four tests. Conclusion. Overall, the study suggested that the Online Short Spatial Ability Battery (OSSAB) can be used for talent identification, educational assessment, and support. The analysis showed a unifactorial structure of spatial abilities. Future research is needed to evaluate the use of this battery with other specific samples and unselected populations.

This article explains the importance of problem-solving skills in STEM education and why insight is an efficient problem solution searching technology. This paper uses the searching inference model to propose insight as a mechanism in heuristic thinking used to help cognitive agents restructure problem formulation and find problem solutions quickly and efficiently. Lastly, through reviewing previous empirical researches, this paper provides the most reasonable assumption about students can use visual-spatial training and mindfulness meditation to help students develop heuristics to solve STEM problems. The visual-spatial training can include the 3D STEM education game and 3D virtual geometry game. Besides, the mindfulness mediation can be training and used to develop mind-flow states, and it also can increases the insight experiences. This paper suggests that future research should increase the sample size and use tools such as fMRI to demonstrate the mechanisms behind heuristic thinking training. As STEM education is relevant to the country's engineering, science, and economics, integrating training of students in problem-solving skills into the education system and developing students' reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills by enhancing the insight experience is worth investigating for the development of STEM education in different countries.
