The issues related to the study of Human Resource processes optimization strategy with the use of the Lean Manufacturing system are highlighted in the paper. The HR specialist role in the recruitment system is reviewed. It is necessary to improve the current process, affecting each of its stages, to increase the efficiency of personnel selection and expand the influence on final result achievement in the food industry enterprises. The concept of HR as a business partnership (HRBP) is developed, which makes it possible to independently flag the need for personnel in accordance with company’s business plan and in some cases also to force changes needed to increase the effect of recruitment process for the company. Modified personnel selection system is introduced and the algorithm for its implementation based on Lean principles with the specified optimization effect in reducing personnel turnover rate and losses is developed. The value map, competency matrix and the list of actions needed to optimize recruitment are worked out.

This paper aims to study the determinants of the Lean Service System (LSS) on the Operational Performance (OP) of India's mail service in the National Sorting Hub (NSH), Mangaluru, Karnataka, the southern part of India. Measuring the OP in mail service is a big challenge in the postal service industry. Hence, we have conducted a survey, and 150 usable data has measured the impact of Lean Service Practices (LSP), Lean Workplace Environment Practices (LWEP), and Lean Social Practices (LSoP) on the OP. The results are analyzed from the partial least square based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) with the support of R programming. The analysis shows that there is positive and significant impact of LSP ( β = 0.380, p < .05), followed by LWEP ( β = 0.281, p < .05), and LSoP ( β = 0.266, p < .05) on OP. The practical effect of the findings of LSS are effectively implemented for enhancing the OP of the business. This research addresses the appropriate empirical model to test LSS in India's postal service industry, which is scant in the existing literature. Moreover, this study helps India Post to review its policy so as to sustain the effectiveness of Lean Service (LS) implementation.

Implementation of Lean Management as a Tool for Decrease of Energy Consumption and CO2 Emissions in the Fast Food Restaurant

The manuscript presents the possibilities of using selected Lean Management tools at a fast food restaurant located at the international airport terminal in Poland. Observations in other points of the company lasting for five years, made possible fair proposals for improvement of selected elements of production and work organization. The research part presents the results of application of such tools as value stream mapping (VSM), Kaizen, and 5S. The Lean Management method, chosen after careful analysis of the work system in the facility, contributed to the increase of work efficiency. Production times were shortened. Additionally, the possibility of reducing energy consumption, and thus the reduction of CO2 emissions associated with production, achieved without interfering with product quality was demonstrated. The timetable for device work was proposed. It was selected based on the analysis of the daily number of transactions compared with energy consumption. It should be emphasized that properly selected Lean tools allow for practical increase of work efficiency, reduction of production cycle times, and a decrease of energy consumption, which, in turn, leads to the decrease of CO2 emissions. It is demonstrated that, concerning the large number of enterprises of that type, introducing appropriate changes in work organization is able to facilitate large changes in emissions on a global scale. The presented solutions were tested in practice, however, due to the nature of the place, it should be considered individually.
