Exploring charm decays with missing energy in leptoquark models

Abstract: We investigate the possibility that scalar leptoquarks generate consequential effects on the flavor-changing neutral-current decays of charmed hadrons into final states with missing energy "Image missing" carried away by either standard model or sterile neutrinos. We focus on scenarios involving the R2, $$ {\tilde{R}}_2 $$ R ˜ 2 , and $$ {\overline{S}}_… Show more

“…For instance, B(Λ c → pνν) > 1.8 • 10 −6 implies lepton universality violation, R Λc p = 1, and B(Λ c → pνν) > 1.1 • 10 −5 implies non-vanishing signals in LFV modes. Upper limits on branching ratios in specific leptoquark models are given in [43].…”

“…We point out three new, clean null tests of the SM, K 2c , K 3s and K 4s (7). Just like the leptonic forward-backward asymmetry A FB ∝ K 1c (11), their SM contribution can be safely neglected because the GIM-mechanism switches off axial-vector couplings of the leptons, a feature previously exploited also for the D → ππ + − angular distribution [6]. We also find that the hadronic forward-backward asymmetry A H FB (14), although not a null test, can cleanly signal BSM physics in right-handed currents, C 7,9,10 , illustrated in Fig.…”

“…2 A Secondly, a scenario with C 10 = C 10 leads to a partial cancellation of contributions leading to a decreased signal with respect to C 10 = −C 10 scenarios. We also show A FB (11) in Fig. 2 (right plot) for C 10 = 0.3.…”
