This research activity examines the possibility of remote control of the heating of railway switches. The study and implementation of the remote-control system of resistive heaters using the Global Mobile Communication System (GSM) through SMS messages (Short Message Service) and AT (attention) commands is presented in this article. The research works envisaged are convergent on the functionality of a GSM protocol, which allows the user to control the heating of the remote railway switches, away from the place where the switches were installed. The notions of serial communication, electronic control and AT control have been applied to expand the system. To increase the robustness of the system, a feedback mechanism was introduced so that users will be able to get a feedback status of the system when the command was successfully sent or in the case of voltage drops and system restarts.

We introduce a textbook that strives to identify and introduce the durable intellectual ideas of embedded systems as a technology and as a subject of study. The emphasis is on modeling, design, and analysis of cyber-physical systems, which integrate computing, networking, and physical processes. The book is intended for students at the advanced undergraduate level or the introductory graduate level, and for practicing engineers and computer scientists who wish to understand the engineering principles of embedded systems. It is also an experiment in publishing. The book is available free in electronic form, in the form of PDF file designed specifically for on-line reading. Specifically, the layout is optimized for medium-sized screens, particularly the iPad and forthcoming tablets. Extensive use of hyperlinks and color enhance the online reading experience. Abstract-Locating faults in embedded software, especially in microcontrollers, is still difficult. Quite recently, it became possible to recover execution traces from microcontrollers using specific hardware probes. However, the collected traces contain a huge volume of low-level data. Consequently, manual analysis is difficult and our industrial partners call for automatic and more effective fault-localization methods for embedded software.This paper presents a new approach to automatically locate faults in embedded programs given a single faulty execution trace. Our approach exploits the cyclic nature of embedded programs and uses several adapted spectrum-based methods in order to find faults on a single execution, rather than a set of multiple failing and passing executions. Our approach is implemented in the tool CoMET and evaluated on several faulty programs. The evaluation shows that our single-trace faultlocalization method using Ochiai [1] allows engineers to find a fault by inspecting less than 5% of the program in most cases, and it confirms the interest of automatic fault localization for microcontrollers.
