Exploring anomalous top-quark interactions via the final lepton intt¯productions/decays at hadron colliders

Abstract: We study momentum distributions of the final-state charged lepton in p p=pp ! t t ! ' þ Xð' ¼ e or "Þ at hadron colliders, i.e., Tevatron and Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in order to explore possible newphysics effects in the top-quark sector. Assuming general model-independent t tg þ t tgg and tbW interactions beyond the standard model, we first derive analytical formulas for the corresponding parton-parton processes. We then compute the lepton angular, energy, and transverse-momentum distributions in p p=pp … Show more

“…(3) These couplings are subject to the usual constraints from top-quark pair production [8,9,10,11,12,13,16,17,18,19,20,14,15,21,22], but they also affect and can be constrained by Higgs production associated with a top-quark pair [23,24,25,26,32,31,30,29,28,27]. We compare the two types of constraints in Fig.…”

“…These couplings have been calculated at one-loop level in various new physics models such as MSSM [47], 2HDM [48,49], Little Higgs model [50,51] and in models with unparticles [52]. Top chromomagnetic and chromoelectric dipole moments have been examined in the past in the context of single-top production [53][54][55], top-pair production [16,[56][57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66], and top-pair plus jet production [67] at hadron colliders. Cheung [68] has used spin correlations in top-pair production at hadron colliders to probe top CMDM and CEDM.…”

“…The sensitivity of polar-angle distributions on the anomalous ttg couplings in top-pair production have been studied in detail in ref. [16,58,59] for the Tevatron, LHC7 and LHC14 where they find that the polar distribution of the charged lepton is quite sensitive at the Tevatron to anomalous ttg couplings but much less sensitive at the LHC in pair production of top quarks.…”

“…In our analysis, we assume that there exist no new particles at any energy less than Λ. Based on this assumption and adopting the notations of our previous work [37,38,39], the effective Lagrangian for t → bW is expressed as…”
