Exploration of electronic structure, mechanical stability, magnetism, and thermophysical properties of L21structured Co2XSb (X = Sc and Ti) ferromagnets

Abstract: Summary The origin of half‐metallicity, structural, thermoelectric, elasto‐mechanical, and thermodynamic properties of Co2ScSb and Co2TiSb full‐Heuslers has been examined by full potential methods. Structural optimizations support the stability of both alloys in AlCu2Mn‐prototype with space symmetry of italicFm3¯m (#225) space group. The occurrence of perfect band occupation and interpretation of density of states through the modified version of the Becke Johnson (mBJ) scheme for both these Heusler systems de… Show more

“…TE materials could play a strategic role in the world's energy management. Their use in waste heat recapture, for example, in vehicles is a manifest and achievable objective for the near future . These materials are presently being used at a faster rate because of their ecofriendly and waste heat management.…”

“…Bulk and shear modulus are calculated by Voigt -Reuss Hill approximation method. 42 Higher value of bulk modulus indicates the maximum resistance caused by external pressure offered by the materials towards the volumetric changes. Ductility or brittleness of materials is calculated by Pugh's ratio (B/G).…”

“…The investigation of thermodynamic properties provides detailed information about performance of an alloy when subjected to temperature and pressure. The overview of thermodynamic properties like, specific heat capacity, thermal expansion coefficient and Grüneisen parameters and their variation with pressure and temperature is analyzed using quasi‐harmonic Debye [70–72] model. These parameters predict the interatomic interaction of materials.…”
