Mushroom is a commodity in the agricultural sector that has the potential to be developed in global trade competition. As part of the ASEAN regional cooperation institution, Indonesia can contribute to achieving excellence in mushroom commodities. Developing mushroom cultivation to support green technology innovation also helps achieve food security for future generations. This research aims to analyze and overview the comparative advantages of ASEAN with China related to mushroom commodities in 2018-2022. This research uses descriptive analysis methods and RCA-Revealed Comparative Advantage analysis in calculating the RCA of this mushroom, using HS codes 0709, 0711, and 0712. HS code 0709 represents mushroom commodities based on the sub “Fresh or chilled mushrooms of the genus “Agaricus” and Fresh or chilled edible mushrooms and truffles. The results show that China has a comparative advantage over ASEAN regarding mushroom commodities in 2018-2022. China outperforms in 3 mushroom commodity sectors in HS Codes 071159, 071151, and 071239. In comparison, ASEAN regional institutions have a low and weak level of comparative advantage in each mushroom commodity code. These results indicate that countries that are members of ASEAN pay less attention to mushroom commodities. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed to develop mushroom commodities supporting green technology innovation by prioritizing humidity control to achieve national food security goals.

Foreign trade is an important part of the national economy. Promoting the development of foreign trade can regulate the optimal allocation of resources, raise the level of domestic productivity, and accelerate economic development. As a traditional inland agricultural province, Henan Province has inherent disadvantages in developing foreign trade due to its geographical location. However, it has characteristic advantages in terms of population and transportation, so it is necessary to study the pattern of foreign trade and the factors affecting it in this region. In this research study, statistical data were assessed with methods such as the foreign trade dependence, geographical detector, and gravity models to analyze the trade scale, pattern, spatio-temporal variation characteristics, and foreign trade mechanisms in Henan Province. The results show that the trade pattern of Henan Province from 2002 to 2021 has evident spatial and temporal heterogeneity, with a relatively homogeneous overall commodity structure, weak competitive advantages, and a high degree of dependence on US trade. Innovation and transportation are essential internal factors, while the external factors are positively affected by the GDP of both Henan Province and the trading countries, FTAs, trade openness, and the population in the long run and are negatively impacted by distance. This study provides suggestions and decision support for formulating foreign trade policies for Henan Province. It also provides a research basis for related corresponding studies of other regions with similar characteristics.

Objective The objective of this study was to identify factors influencing the development of China-ASEAN trade- from the total economic volume of both sides, distance, the population size of ASEAN countries, the construction of a free trade area, and the signing of the Belt and Road initiative, resource endowment per capita, the exchange rate between RMB and ASEAN countries, and the land area of ASEAN countries—to develop a conceptual framework for China-ASEAN trade potential. Study design This study uses panel data from 2001 to 2021 that is evenly distributed among 10 ASEAN countries to serve as the dataset. Firstly, the unit roots are checked and the cointegration relationships are examined, focusing on the heterogeneity test. Based on the classical trade gravity model, the innovative trade gravity model with key influencing factors is constructed. On the basis of the classical trade gravity model, an innovative trade gravity model of key influencing factors is constructed. The trade potential model is used to calculate the direct trade potential coefficient between China and ASEAN countries, which points out the direction for the sustainability of bilateral trade. Results This study finds that among the factors affecting China-ASEAN bilateral trade, the total economic output of both sides, distance, population size of ASEAN countries, the construction of the FTA, and the signing of the Belt and Road Initiative all have a positive impact on bilateral trade. Three influencing factors, namely per capita resource endowment, exchange rate between RMB and ASEAN countries, and the size of ASEAN countries, have a negative impact on bilateral trade, but to a lesser extent. The trade potential between China and Vietnam falls into the category of potential re-modelling, indicating that both sides are currently utilizing their trade potential to the greatest extent possible, that trade growth space is limited, and that new trade opportunities must be discovered. The trade potential index between China and nine ASEAN countries, excluding Vietnam, is in the potential-exploiting category, indicating that the potential has not been fully utilized by both sides and that there is still room for growth in the scale of trade between the two countries. Conclusion With the shift of the world’s economic center of gravity in the direction of Asia following COVID-19, China and ASEAN countries should seize the opportunity to strengthen their comprehensive strength and economic aggregates and further develop China’s constructive role in the regional organization. The signing of the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of a free trade zone has had a positive effect on the development of bilateral trade. Propose that: positive trade factors should continue to be strengthened, trade barriers should be removed, and new dynamics of bilateral trade growth should be enhanced.
