This research highlights the impact of Variation Orders in construction projects, especially in the Tenjoresmi Area Arrangement. The results of the field study showed that the Variation Order caused significant changes to the Cost Budget Plan (RAB) and the performance of the implementing contractor. Some of the work affected includes changing the brand of air conditioner, replacing the amphitheater with a jogging track, dismantling railings, sanitary dismantling, plumbing dismantling, air conditioning dismantling, removing demolition debris, glass window frames, reinstalling aluminum door and window frames, wall handrails, doors. iron, disposing of excavated gravel, and planting shrubs. RAB analysis revealed changes in cost proportions for various works, such as increases in demolition and architecture and decreases in structures. In October and November, there was a delay in implementing the work due to a contract addendum, which was only approved in mid-October. However, the implementing contractor did not experience financial problems, and even experienced an increase in profit of 0.79%. In conclusion, Variation Orders can affect project time and costs, but flexible contractors can manage them well, and even optimize profits. Effective management is needed to cope with change and ensure the smooth implementation of construction projects.

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of construction experts in the Chilean construction industry regarding emotional intelligence. This exploratory and qualitative study is based on data collected through semi-structured interviews with construction professionals. The collected data were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis (QCA) technique to leverage how emotional intelligence (EI) is perceived by professionals in Chilean construction projects. A review, coding, and categorization were carried out within each transcribed interview, which allowed the elaboration of coding dictionaries and corresponding frequency tables to identify emerging topics. Our main results indicate that interviewees perceived EI as a tool to help them face the problems in Chilean construction projects. According to the interviewees, the benefits of implementing EI training are mainly the socio-emotional development and the transfer of critical skills to confront the challenges related to workers’ interactions. The main barriers are related to the work culture, lack of awareness of EI among construction workers, economic interests, and gender factors. The literature points to limited studies on understanding emotional intelligence in the construction sector, particularly in South America. This study contributes to responding to the need to explore and provide knowledge on emotional intelligence in the construction sector in the context of a South American country. This study contributes to exploring and understanding how EI is understood among workers in Chilean construction projects. In practicality, construction managers may use our findings to design training programs that leverage EI to improve the management of construction projects.

The application of metaverse technology in the field of civil engineering has the potential to improve project efficiency and accuracy. Nevertheless, the pervasive adoption and effective integration of metaverses are contingent on a number of crucial factors. This study investigates the critical factors underlying the successful implementation of metaverse technology within a business context. This research employs a comprehensive mixed-method approach comprised of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) to examine survey responses gathered from seasoned professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors in Bangladesh. In areas such as communication and collaboration, design visualization, and monitoring and maintenance, the construction industry has made extraordinary strides. As imperatives for managerial consideration strategic investment in resources, targeted training initiatives, heightened awareness campaigns, and prudent deployment of cost-effective and efficient metaverse-based solutions emerge, future investigations should include a larger sample size and an evaluation of the lasting effects over extended time periods. The key to unleashing the full potential of the metaverse within the architecture, engineering, and construction industries lies in addressing these identified success determinants, thereby ushering in enhanced project outcomes and enhanced efficiency within the constructed environment. The combination of these initiatives is expected to pave the way for a new era in the AEC landscape.
