Exploiting Renewable Energy and UPS Systems to Reduce Power Consumption in Data Centers

Abstract: To develop environmental friendly and energy-efficient data centers, it is prudent to leverage on-site renewable sources like solar and wind. Data centers deploy distributed UPS systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of UPS systems, thereby handling the intermittent nature of renewable energy. We propose a renewableenergy manager called REDUX to (1) offer a smart way of managing energy supply of data centers powered by grid and renewable energy and (2) maintain a desirable balance between … Show more

“…Compared with the existing strategies, REDUX provides a comprehensive view for the energy e ciency data center and demonstrates a prominent capability of mitigating average peak workload and boosting renewable-energy utilization [22]. We validate the accuracy of this model and demonstrate the usage of this model during peak and non-peak hours in a day in terms of reducing the brown energy consumption [23].…”

“…With the increase in data traffic volume, there is concern about the increase in power consumption of data centers (DCs) and the resulting increase in CO2 emissions [1][2]. As a countermeasure, efforts to utilize renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic systems (PV) to supply power to DCs are being considered [3][4][5][6][7]. However, since PV systems are dependent on the weather and do not generate electricity at night, large storage battery (BAT) capacity is set to required in order to stably supply electricity for DC calculation speed at night.…”

“…This paper will aim to address this issue by explaining a new technique called HOG based logo detection scheme that offers brand owners the protection they need while providing website operators with assistance in detecting fraudulent or malicious content. [2] II. LITERATURE REVIEW The growing and massive production of visual data by businesses and institutions, as well as the growing popularity of social systems Graphics logos are a type of visual object that is extremely important for determining the identity of something or someone.…”
