An historical overview and detailed explication of a critical analysis of what has become known as Bell's Theorem to the effect that, it should be impossible to extend Quantum Theory with the addition of local, real variables so as to obtain a version free of the ambiguous and preternatural features of the currently accepted interpretations is presented. The central point on which this critical analysis, due originally to Edwin Jaynes, is that Bell incorrectly applied probabilistic formulas involving conditional probabilities. In addition, mathematical technicalities that have complicated the understanding of the logical or mathematical setting in which current theory and experimentation are embedded, are discussed. Finally, some historical speculations on the sociological environment, in particular misleading aspects, in which recent generations of physicists lived and worked are mentioned.

The tunnelling of a neutral magnetic dipole moment (neutron or neutrino) through a magnetic field barrier is studied without the weak field approximation. The laws for the change of polarization during the reflection and transmission from vacuum to field and from field to vacuum and during the propagation inside the field are determined. The ambiguities and controversies concerning the interpretation of the change of polarization as due to translational phase of due to spinor transformation law are clarified and possible new experiments are suggested. Preliminaries Neutron Polarization and Interference ExperimentsNeutron tunnelling through magnetic fields has been extensively studied in recent years by the measurement of the final state polarization in neutron-spin echo experiments [1][2][3], and also by the measurement of the final state phase of the neutron wave function in neutron interferometry [4][5][6].The measurement of the polarization shows that the effect of a homogeneous magnetic field can be interpreted as a counter-clock-wise rotation of the neutron polarization around the direction of the magnetic field by an angle with to, -i~[c~ )~s = R=(cc) )~o = e e ~sin (0o/2) ei~oo + ~)}.

The "theorems" showing the impossibility of ascribing to individual quantum systems a definite value of a set of observables, not necessarily commuting, (1~) are based on the tacit assumption that each individual spin eomponent has a discrete dichotomie value. We show explicitly that it is possible to introduce continuous hidden variables for individual spins which avoid these quantum paradoxes without changing any of the observed quantum mechanical results.
