“…In this field, most research focus on managers’ hoarding negative news until a certain threshold triggers the stock price crash due to the concentrated outbreak of negative news. In accordance with agency theory, the hoarding of bad news is driven by agency problems and leads to information asymmetry and crash risk ( Jin and Myers, 2006 ; Xu et al, 2013 ; Kong et al, 2021 ).
